Storm Team, Green Family Stores donate $2K to Compass for Kids
Tuesday the Newschannel 20 Storm Team along with Green Family Stores presented a $2,000 check to Compass for Kids as part of our weather guarantee.
The money will be going towards their summer camp program.
The program is a fun way to help low-income students maintain academic success.
Last summer, nearly every student saw an improvement in reading and math.
“In addition to those three hours of academics we provide breakfast and lunch,” Compass for Kids Executive Director Molly Berendt said. “They have enrichment activities, swimming, field trips, and so it costs quite a bit to have the six-week camp.”
"Extremely rewarding for us to be able to give back to the community, and being in a situation where we can give back, especially when it comes to kids," Green Hyundai general manager Mike Quimby shared.
January’s charity is the Springfield Urban League Head Start program.
