Crime Stoppers Gets $2,000 to Support Anonymous Tip-Line
NewsChannel 20 and Green Family stores is donating $2,000 to Crime Stoppers of Sangamon and Menard Counties.
Crime Stoppers will be using the money exclusively towards tips, so if you have a tip that leads to the arrest of a wanted criminal, you could see some of that money yourself.
The Crime Stoppers tip-line allows you to stay anonymous, and local police officers say some crimes may go unresolved without these valuable tips.
"It takes tips from the public and the cooperation from the public to get information to the police and without this it just wouldn't happen. These criminals would still be on the streets," said Crime Stoppers board member, Jim Donelan.
"We have a passion for our law enforcement and our first responders. It's a very crucial time, it's a tough time, for a lot of these and for us, again, to be able to give something back to them, hopefully it'll go a long way," said Green Family Stores General Manager, Mylas Copeland.
In the month of August, Storm Team 20's accurate forecasting will raise money for Girls On The Run, a learning program for young girls.
