Rachel Droze began working as the statehouse reporter for Newschannel 20 and Fox 55/27 in May 2017. Coming from Michigan, Rachel is excited to delve into Illinois’ political scene, bringing viewers the latest happenings from the Capitol.

Prior to starting at Newschannel 20 and Fox 55/27, Rachel spent two years working as a multimedia journalist at WLUC-TV in Marquette, Michigan. While there Rachel broke stories on an energy company filing for regulatory approval to build a $135 million natural gas pipeline, a state representative exploring a possible state Senate run and a manhunt for an armed suspect.

She also worked as an intern at WXYZ-TV in Detroit under an award-winning investigative team. Following a motion hearing, Rachel landed the only interview with Bernard Kilpatrick, the father of former Detroit mayor Kwame Kilpatrick. Bernard Kilpatrick served almost 10 months in federal prison for a tax crime. Kwame Kilpatrick is currently serving time in federal prison for crimes including racketeering, bribery, extortion and tax crimes.

Rachel graduated from Michigan State University (Go Green) with a degree in journalism and a concentration in electronic news. Her work has been honored by the Michigan Association of Broadcasters.
