AJ Gersh

AJ Gersh is an anchor for NewsChannel 20 and Fox Illinois Sunrise. He is excited to help start your day off with a smile (and a bowtie, if it’s a Thursday)! Prior to his move to Central Illinois, AJ anchored KTXS This Morning at our sister station in Abilene, Texas.

AJ was born and raised in Annapolis, Maryland. He graduated from Syracuse University in 2019 with a degree in Broadcast and Digital Journalism from the S.I. Newhouse School of Public Communications.

While at school, he anchored and reported for NCC News, Newhouse’s award-winning collegiate television and radio station. He also hosted a weekly sports and entertainment talk show on WERW, Syracuse’s student run radio station. AJ also served as president of his fraternity, the Pi Chapter of Psi Upsilon. He has previously interned at WBAL-TV in Baltimore and NBC Sports Washington in our nation’s capital.

In his free time, you can find AJ out on the golf course, checking out/reviewing the latest movies, writing and performing music or enjoying some great, local eats!

AJ’s eager to get involved in the Springfield community and looks forward to meeting & telling the stories of the great people of Central Illinois.
