SPRINGFIELD, Ill. (WICS/WRSP) — Illinois State Police responded to a crash involving multiple horses on I-72 near Springfield on Saturday.
Officials said one horse was killed in the crash.
At around 3:40 p.m., police said a trailer with four horses was traveling westbound at milepost 83 when it became disconnected and rolled over.
The driver and passenger in the vehicle suffered non-life-threatening injuries.
ISP said all westbound lanes were reopened at around 6:30 p.m.
