Waverly woman killed, possible suspect caught

The Morgan County Sheriff's Office and the Illinois State Police are investigating an alleged homicide in Waverly Tuesday night.

According to our news partners WLDS Radio, Morgan County Deputies received a call Tuesday night around 7:30 from the 300 block of East Elm Street in Waverly about a possible domestic incident and possible homicide of a female victim.

WLDS Radio was told a suspect was initially caught by a group of local citizens before being taken to Passavant Area Hospital to treat several injuries.

Morgan County Sheriff Randy Duvendack says the suspect has yet to be processed, though he does say homicide charges are pending. Duvendack also says there is another Waverly man who’s believed to be an acquaintance of the female murder victim, who is currently being booked at the county jail for aggravated battery, which was allegedly taken out on the man suspected of homicide.
