Wabash Construction close to completion
Construction on Wabash Avenue is essentially complete.
According to the Illinois Department of Transportation, all that is left is to relocate some utilities and complete the sidewalks.
The roughly $25.6 million-dollar project widened and resurfaced a three-mile portion of Wabash Avenue.
Businesses in the area say the roadwork has helped sales and they expect that trend to continue.
"I feel like we were out here a little early as far as the development out west here, but now that it's starting to catch up, business has gone up every year, sales have gone up every year," said Gyro Stop Owner, Abe Christofilakos.
IDOT says, there is no scheduled date of completion as of right now.
