More than 30 dogs confiscated from licensed kennel operator
*This is a developing story. We'll bring you more information as it becomes available.
Thirty-four dogs were confiscated from a home in rural Sangamon County.
This happened in a home in the 3300 block of Cantrall Creek Road outside of Sherman.
Animal Control, the Sheriff's Department, as well as the Health Department were there to confiscate the animals.
We're told the owner is a licensed kennel operator and has a valid license.
Investigators say there were some grooming issues with the dogs as well as some sanitation issues at the facility.
All of the dogs were relinquished to local rescue groups. The owner of the dogs could possibly face fines. The kennel operator, in this case, has a good record with the state and this is the first complaint they’ve received in at least 8 years. It’s unclear if a complaint from 2009 was founded.
The Department of Ag's animal division is leading the investigation.
