Suspect in attack of 70-year-old man arrested
Springfield police have arrested the man suspected of attacking a 70-year-old man.
Police found 27-year-old Andrew Brady in Decatur Tuesday night.
He's charged with aggravated battery.
Officers say he attacked the elderly man Tuesday and left him in the street on Melrose and 12th Street. At this time, police are still searching for a motive

The suspect in yesterday’s aggravated battery investigation was identified as 27-year-old Andrew J. Brady of the 2200 block of S. 12th Street. Brady was located in Decatur, Illinois at approximately 10:00 p.m. He was arrested on an aggravated battery warrant by the United States Marshals Violent Fugitive Task Force. Brady was then transported to the Sangamon County Jail. Police are continuing to investigate a motive.
On December 12, at approximately 11:05 a.m., Springfield Police Officers were dispatched to the 2300 block of S. 12th Street for a report of a person down. The victim was located by officers in the 1200 block of E. Melrose Street and was taken to Memorial Medical Center by ambulance. The victim was identified as a 70-year-old white male from Springfield. He is currently being treated for possible life-threatening injuries.
Witnesses state the victim had stopped in the 1200 block of E. Melrose Street. The victim was then attacked by a white male that had arrived in another vehicle. After the attack, the suspect fled the area in his vehicle.
Detectives are currently processing the scene and conducting a thorough canvass of the area along with conducting interviews.
