Survey: Optimistic economic outlook for Springfield
The local economy appears to be on the upswing.
The Greater Springfield Chamber of Commerce released the results of their economic survey Monday morning and they say the future is optimistic.
The study examines the economic perceptions, expectations, and evaluations of Sangamon County employers: 32-percent of respondents say they expect to add jobs and 46-percent they expect profits to rise.
The results were released Monday at the annual economic outlook breakfast.
"Business leaders in our community expect things to stay the same or increase or get better slightly; some folks with really high expectations," said Chris Hembrough, President/CEO of Springfield Chamber of Commerce.
The survey was conducted by the research office at UIS in the fall.
