UPDATE 8:45 P.M. THURSDAY:

Our sister station, HOI News in Peoria, has confirmed the identity of the school bus driver involved in the crash.

HOI reports the school bus driver in Wednesday’s fatal crash was been identified as Mark Kuhn, 64, of Heyworth.

HOI also says Kuhn's daughter confirmed he has multiple broken bones, vertebrae, and a serious lung injury.


UPDATE 2:45 P.M. THURSDAY:

The semi-truck driver from Iowa that died has been identified by the Peoria County Coroner as Ryan E. Hute.

UPDATE 11 A.M. THURSDAY:

The school now says all of the students who were on the bus, have been released from the hospital.

UPDATE 1:00 A.M. THURSDAY :

A semi truck driver has passed away as a result of injuries related to a crash Wednesday night on I-74, according to the Illinois State Police.

The name of the victim has yet to be released but we do know he's a 34-year-old man from Iowa.

This is the second fatality from the crash.

ISP said the crash occurred at 8:32 p.m. Wednesday night on I-74 at milepost 137 after a semi truck collided with a school bus carrying Normal West Community High School Junior Varsity Girls Freshman Basketball Team members.

The victim of the crash was identified as Charles Crabtree, 72, a male of Normal Ill.

Crabtree was a volunteer of basketball team that was on the school bus.

12 people total were involved in the crash - 11 were on the school bus and one was the driver of the semi-truck.

All of the students sustained non-life threatening injuries and were transported to local hospital via ambulance.

The semi truck driver and two others were airlifted from the scene - the coach, the semi truck driver and the bus driver and taken to St. Francis Medical Center in Peoria, Ill.

The investigation is ongoing and ISP said it will last through the night.

The Illinois State Police Zone agents are on scene at each of the hospitals.

The interstate is expected to remain closed for the next couple of hours.

Four students were taken to St. Joseph Hospital in Bloomington, three to St. Francis in Peoria and two are in critical condition.

Illinois State Police District 6 is responding to a semi truck vs school bus crash on I-74 Wednesday.

Police said the semi truck was going the wrong way and crashed head-on with the school bus at mile marker 137 near Bloomington.

Normal West Community High School Junior Varsity Girls Freshman Basketball Team was returning home on the bus from a game at Champaign Central at the time of the crash.

Parents of the players are encouraged to come to the school, according to McLean County Unit 5's Facebook page. Staff is on hand at the school to help support students and parents.

There are injuries, but the severity of the crash is still unknown.
