Riverton Middle Schoolers honor veterans through assembly
Middle school students had the opportunity to honor veterans in their community Friday.
Riverton Middle School held an assembly that included singing, speaking, and original work by the students.
The district is proud of the veterans in the community and said they are very supportive of the school.
That’s why the district changed the school calendar to go to school on Veterans Day to honor those who served.
“We think educationally there's a benefit in highlighting a significant day to talk about the sacrifices of veterans, the importance of that for our country and we really felt the best way to do that was to have the students present,” Dr. Lance Thurman, Superintendent of Schools said.
The other goal of the assembly was to hold something the community could attend.
