Shots fired outside Central High School


The Champaign Police Department confirmed shots fired near Central High School Friday night following the boy's basketball game.

Police arrived to the high school shortly after 9:30 p.m.

Ambulances were on the scene transporting wounded individuals to the hospital.

Champaign Unit 4 Schools posted the following message on its Facebook page:

There was a shooting this evening that took place a block east of Central High School after the boys basketball game. The investigation is ongoing and authorities are focused on the health and safety of our students and community. We respectfully ask for your patience as we gather critical details. We will update you as we have more information


Officials are responding to a shots-fired incident outside of Champaign Central High School.

Students have been evacuated from a basketball game.

Officials are still looking a suspect.

It is unknown if anyone was injured or how many were involved.
