Police find and arrest two escaped convicts from Christian County Jail

Christian County Sheriff's Office released information about Mackenzie Brion and Rodney Sizemore's escape.

Both inmates were housed together in a dormitory style cell and escaped by removing the bands on a seam in a chain linked fence that gives access to a walkway above the dormitory.

The inmate then knocked out an exhaust fan and made their way onto a roof.

The inmates were last seen around 11:00 P.M. Jail staff discovered the escape around 3:10 and both inmates were recaptured within three hours.

An internal review of the incident is ongoing, but preliminary investigation shows violations of the jail policy. These violations are being addressed internally and jail procedures will be reviewd.

Officials say repairs have been made to secure the section of the jail that was damaged during the escape.

Kregg M. Bandy of rural Morrisonvill was also arrested for obstruction of a peace officer in connection with this escape.


UPDATE: 6:10 p.m.

Christian County Deputies captured escaped inmate Mackinzie Brion. Taylorville Police, Kincaid Police, Edinburg Police and US Marshalls assisted in the capture.

Brion was located in rural Taylorville, IL.

UPDATE 5:00 p.m. Police search for inmates who have escaped from the Christian County Jail.

The sheriff said the incident was discovered around 3:10 p.m. Saturday.

He said one inmate, Rodney Sizemore, was found and arrested as of 4:54 p.m.

PRESS RELEASE: 4:39 p.m.

On December 23, 2017 jail staff discovered the escape of two inmates. The inmates who escaped were 23 year old Mackenzie J. Brion and 19 year old Rodney D. Sizemore both of Taylorville.

Mackenzie Brion was being held for possession of a controlled substance and had a $10,000 bond.

Rodney Sizemore was being held for Possession of a stolen vehicle, violation of an order of protection, Battery, and Aggravated Battery to a police officer and had a $70,000 bond.

The Christian County Sheriff’s Office is asking anyone who has information about the location of these two individuals to contact the sheriff’s office at 217-824-4961.
