Springfield remembers the lives lost during the attack on Pearl Harbor
76 years ago Thursday, over 2,400 Americans were killed during the attack on Pearl Harbor in Oahu, Hawaii.
Decades and miles away in Springfield, their memories are not forgotten.
The annual ceremony was held at Lake Springfield to honor those killed and remember their sacrifice, the foundation of the United States.
"Here are people that are coming out on a cold windy day to pay tribute and honor to the sacrifices made and as long as we are a nation that can do that we will still remain the home of the brave," keynote speaker John Temple said.
A wreath was gently laid into the lake to represent the lives lost in the waters surrounding Pearl Harbor.
