Panel gathers in Springfield to discuss winning women in midterm election
A panel came together in Springfield Thursday night to discuss what the midterm elections mean for women.
The panel focused on gender politics, public policy affecting women and answered questions from audience members.
Organizers said the election saw a record number of women running and winning in office.
But, there's still a long way to go.
"We've still got a long way to go. Still less than 25 percent House and Senate are women, even with the gains we've made this year. So we want to keep bringing that focus and keep making that progress," Co-Director of Public Policy Committee of AAUW Beth Langen said.
Dozens attended the event Thursday.
AAUW holds events after almost every election.
