One person dead after morning house fire
26-year-old Jordan McCrady was pronounced dead at 9:38 a.m. on Saturday according to the Sangamon County Coroner.
An autopsy was performed on McCrady on Saturday.
The time and cause of his death are consistent with inhalation of smoke and soot from the fire. There were no signs of foul play.
The Springfield Fire Department arson investigators and Springfield Police Department are still investigating.
One person is dead after a Saturday morning house fire.
Springfield Fire crews responded to the fire in the 2100 block of Marland Avenue just before 7 a.m. on Saturday.
When they arrived they found heavy smoke and fire from a single family home.
Crews were told a person was trapped inside the home. Some crew members searched the house for the missing person, while others attempted to extinguish the fire.
A male victim was located, and determined to be dead. The identity of the victim has not been released. The cause of death is under investigation by the Sangamon County Coroner's office.
The cause of the fire is currently under investigation.
