News anchor's inspirational 'I'm done' message goes viral
It's easy to get caught up in what other people may think of you, but NewsChannel 20 anchor Stacey Skrysak officially says she's "done".
Skrysak writing on her Facebook page, "I am done. It’s taken me 30+ years, but I am done caring what other people think of me... Over the years, I’ve been told by male colleagues that losing 10lbs would help advance my career. Because of others, I have fretted about my looks and I learned how to hide the extra lumps and dimples on my body. "
She posted an inspirational message on Facebook sharing her story on how she is done worrying about what others might think of her.
"Worrying so much about the way I looked held me back. Whether it was a job or a simple activity, I thought I needed to look a certain way. But you know what? I am done."
Instead, Skrysak is fully embracing who she is and being comfortable in her own skin.
"I am done. I am done worrying about the superficial things in life. I am done caring what other people think of me. When I look at this picture I see a strong woman who is loving and embracing life, putting her hand up to shield all the haters"
The post quickly spread throughout social media, gaining thousands of likes and comments.
Skrysak also had some advice to other women out there who may be feeling the same way.
"Ladies—listen up," Skrysak wrote. "The next time you worry about what others think of you, look at yourself in the mirror. It’s time to put you first and do things because it’s what YOU want to do, not what others expect of you."
ABC News also picked up her story of self-worth and shared her message to women everywhere.
