New sheriff in town for Sangamon County, Jack Campbell wins race
There's a new sheriff in town.
Jack Campbell will take office this December after winning the Sangamon County Sheriff's race.
Looking toward the future, Campbell hopes to focus on the drug task force team to tackle illegal drugs in the community. He also wants to advance technology with online reporting, so deputies can be utilized in the most efficient way possible.
"It allows us then to maybe take a deputy or two and put them on a task force and have them working in a drug unit - things like that so we can kind of shift the manpower around without adding head count," Sangamon County Sheriff-Elect, Jack Campbell said.
After the election, Campbell was gifted with family heirlooms from his great uncle, Hugh Campbell, who served as Sangamon County Sheriff in the late 50's and was re-elected in 1970 for another term.
The heirloom consisted of a uniform badge, grill badge, and .38 revolver.
Campbell will take office December 1st.
