New portrait of Abraham Lincoln placed in courthouse
You will soon be able to get a new look at a former president.
The Sangamon County Board Office unveiled a new Abraham Lincoln portrait Wednesday.
The portrait was placed in the first floor lobby of the Sangamon County Courthouse.
The portrait is a digital reproduction of the famous original painting by Alexander Hesler, done in 1860.
Wednesday's unveiling is part of a statewide effort by the Illinois State Historical Society, along with the Illinois Bicentennial, to place the portrait in all 102 county courthouses in Illinois.
