Mommy Matters: St. John's names Patient of the Year
In this week’s Mommy Matters, she's a special girl who stole the hearts of people around the world, after a certain video went viral.
Stacey Skrysak first introduced you to Madison Austin last spring while she was a patient at St. John's Children's Hospital in Springfield.
She gained worldwide attention for her Hokey Pokey skills, getting her nurses in on the dancing.
Tuesday, she received a special award from the hospital, being named Patient of the Year.
“It makes me very proud,” Eric Austin, Madison’s father said. “It makes me happy to know that everybody at St. John's really cares for Madison and it makes us happy knowing that so many of them love to take care of their patients and St. John's is the best for that."
Madison and her family were honored Tuesday at a special ceremony at the Abraham Lincoln Presidential Library and Museum.
After thanking the nurses and medical team, an impromptu Hokey Pokey dance was led by the popular little girl.
