Body found near Meredosia high school Thursday

Sheriff Bill Redshaw, with the Schuyler County Sheriff's Department, said the body was that of a male from Rushville, Ill.

The body was found in Meredosia, Ill. in Morgan County. The body was confirmed to not be that of a police officer or law enforcement official.

Illinois State Police is leading the investigation.

Meredosia-Chambersburg High School is on a soft lockdown since 8:20 a.m. Thursday.

Principal Dan Carrie said there may be a body found in close proximity to the school.

The lockdown is set to last until noon.

If police are still on-site investigating, the school will have an early dismissal at 2:15 p.m.
