Man accused of shooting baby arrested

    The man accused of shooting a child under the age of one has been arrested.

    Police had been searching for 30-year-old Tarvelle Williams since the baby girl was shot.

    Williams was taken into custody by the United States Marshals Violent Fugitive Task Force in Milwaukee, Wisconsin.

    He was arrested on a $500,000 arrest warrant obtained by the Sangamon County State’s Attorney’s Office for the charges of aggravated battery with a firearm and armed habitual criminal.

    Williams was wanted in connection with a shooting on January 20 where a baby girl was struck by a bullet in the lower half of her body.

    She was taken by ambulance to HSHS St. John’s Hospital for treatment of non-life threatening injuries and is expected to be released from the hospital in the near future.
