"Making a Murderer" subject's confession upheld
A federal appeals court in Chicago ruled the confession given by Brendan Dassey, a key figure in the Netflix "Making a Murderer" series, should not be thrown out.
Dassey confessed to investigators in 2005 that he helped his uncle in raping and killing Teresa Halbach.
A lower court concluded last year that investigators improperly obtained Dassey's confession.
On Friday, the Seventh Circuit Court of Appeals ruled that police properly obtained his confession and it should stand, meaning Dassey's life sentence will remain in effect.
