Legislation passed to help protect DCFS workers

Governor Rauner signed legislation to better protect state workers in vulnerable positions.

It requires law enforcement agencies to "make all reasonable efforts to assist" DCFS workers when requested.

It also lets officers cross jurisdictions to provide protection.

The legislation was introduced in February after DCFS worker, Pamela Knight, died from injuries she received while trying to take a child into protective custody.
