Local children got some first-hand experience in the medical field at HSHS St. John's Children's Hospital Tuesday.

Elementary school kids from Camp Compass visited the hospital for Operation Kid Clinic, which took place at 1 p.m. to 3 p.m.

Kids were able to learn what it's like to work in a hospital through specialized stations. They designed dolls to be their patients and checked the doll's vitals with a stethoscope, blood pressure cuff and a thermometer.

The kids also started IVs on the patients.

Newschannel 20's photojournalist Andrew Rutherford gives us a look at the event, letting kids be a doctor for a day.
