Jacksonville church needs $200,000 to avoid foreclosure
A Jacksonville church is being forced to close in eight days if it doesn’t raise $200,000.
The Community Temple of God in Christ has been open for 30 years.
Initially there was an old building that was torn down because it was too old, then a new building was built, but it needed a loan.
The loan came from a bank in Jacksonville, but the bank went under in 2009 and the loans were sold to other groups.
Every time the church made a payment, the groups kept selling the loans and the loans kept multiplying.
The most recent group is waiving some of the fees and other expenses but the church is still trying to raise the money that is needed to avoid foreclosure.
The church needs to pay the full amount of $200,000 by June 30, 2018.
If the church doesn't pay that amount in time, it is up for foreclosure.
