ISP doubles up on staff to combat heavy snowfall

ISP doubles up on staff to combat heavy snowfall (WICS)

Illinois State Police are working to keep you safe, during this major snowfall.

They brought in another shift of officers, doubling their staffing.

Other officers are on standby, depending on how bad the roads are.

ISP is also working closely with tow companies.

They've had every abandoned car towed off the interstate, so it doesn't block a plow truck.

Tow truck companies say this is vital.

"The snow plows need to get to snow, they need to go around which then causes a traffic hazard, so abandoned cars are a big issue during the snow,” said Shane McDermith, with Shaner’s towing.

Emergency responders are urging everyone to stay inside if you can.
