Indiana tipster that helped police stop school shooting ID'd as suspect's mother
We now know the name of the teen who police stopped from shooting a middle school in Richmond, Indiana Thursday.
The teen was identified as 14-year-old Brandon Clegg, according to the Wayne County Coroner in Indiana.
Clegg turned the gun on himself during a shootout with police.
Investigators said a tipster alerted police to Clegg's plan to shoot the middle school, Dennis Intermediate School.
The school was put on lockdown by the time he arrived and no one else was injured.
Police also confirmed the source of the 9-1-1 call that alerted authorities and the school officials to the imminent danger was placed by Clegg's mother, Mary York, 42, of Richmond.
The investigation is still ongoing.
