Making Daylight Saving Time year-round

Illinois lawmaker pushes to keep Daylight Saving Time year-round

A bill that'd keep Illinois on Daylight Saving Time year-round continues to be stalled in the Illinois House.

Rep. Steve Andersson, the Republican bill sponsor from Geneva, said research he’s done shows people are more productive in the afternoon hours when it stays light longer.

He also said retailers tend to do better when the sun sets later.

The bill has been stuck in the House Rules Committee for almost a year now.

A couple weeks ago, Andersson wrote a letter to House Speaker Michael Madigan, D-Chicago, formally requesting action be taken on the measure.

Andersson has yet to hear back on if it’ll move.
