Holiday package numbers rise in 2017
While many holiday packages have been delivered, the U.S. Postal service expects its final number to be around 850,000,000 this year.
That number is far surpassing original predictions for the 2017 holiday season.
The number delivered has grown quite a bit over the past five years.
In 2012, just 365,000,000 packages were delivered.
That steady increase is due to the rise in popularity of online shopping.
It has also put a strain on the U.S. Postal service as the organization's workforce has shrunk by 20,000 over the past five years.
