'Holiday House of Horror' coming to Rantoul
A holiday house of horror opens in Rantoul Saturday.
‘Santa Claws’ and his evil elves are coming to Baldwin Asylum, one of the scariest haunts in Illinois.
"We're poking a little fun at Christmas,” Co-owner, Marc Dams said. “All of our freaks and fiends didn't get enough of Halloween so we decided we'd put on this Christmas haunted house."
At the haunt, you'll find all your favorite holiday characters-- with a twist.
“This is Santa’s Workshop, so he’ll be a little bit sick and twisted," said Dams. "We have demented elves, we have Krampus, our church is going to be full of zombie carolers."
This will be their first holiday haunt, and Baldwin fans ready to be horrified.
"They’re extremely excited, they're all coming,” Dams said. “Everywhere we go wearing our Baldwin gear they want to know the details.”
Others are intrigued by this strange holiday tradition.
"I myself would probably be interested in checking it out,” Daniel Pituch said. “I am not too keen on haunted houses, but it's definitely an interesting concept.”
And then there are those who say ‘Bah humbug” to the idea of haunting Christmas.
"I think haunted in regards to Halloween is great, but with Christmas, it doesn't really compute with Christmas,” Michael McKinney, said.
And while the Baldwin team is out to haunt your holidays, they’re embracing the season by giving back.
“We’re all Halloween people, but we’re trying to stretch it out and have our own little bit of fun,” Co-owner, Jason Thorn said. “But at the same time give a little bit to the community.”
Part of the proceeds from the holiday haunt will go to local charities in Rantoul.
Holiday House of Horror at the Baldwin Asylum will feature special guests from Spook Hallow and Scary Gary.
