SPRINGFIELD, Ill. (WICS) -- Once again, dart players unite for a wonderful cause-benefitting the Helping Paw Project.
“My grandpa threw darts and I’m just trying to follow in his footsteps," Kyle Albright, player said.
This event is put on by the Helping Paw Project, which helps senior dogs. Organizer, Julianna Richards says this is a cause very special to her.
"I’m a huge dog lover, I have 4 myself, 2 that were through the helping paw project and they're seniors just being able to come back and give back to dogs is my dream," Richards said.
The money raised from tickets, and raffles will go towards medical bills and other expenses.
"This helps get those dogs that deserve a great home at the end of their lives especially, a chance to have those great homes and a chance for owners to not have to worry about expenses that come out of nowhere because it is an older dog," Richards said.
Thanks to the event, senior dogs are able to spend the last years of their lives in comfort.
"They get left in pounds so much, people will take them to the pounds and be like, they're old, they don't want to be active anymore and dump their dogs," Richards said.
"I think adopting a dog is the best way to go about it, if you can save a life, why not try," Albright said.
Last year the event raised $2,000. If you would like to help click here:
