SPRINGFIELD, Ill. (WICS/WRSP) — It's Habitat for Humanity's National Women Build Week.
The annual week-long event is meant to spotlight the house-ownership challenges faced by women.
In Springfield, women joined to movement to help build a home for a single mother, which is located at 2832 East Black Avenue.
Volunteer Deneen Pajeau said the experience has been nothing short of rewarding.
"Everyone has been so helpful with the Habitat for Humanity staff and all of the women coming together to donate money or donating time. All walks of life, all ages, you really get to know a lot of great women here in Springfield," Pajeau said.
Across the country, more than 98,000 women have volunteered at the nine previous National Women Build Week events.
