SPRINGFIELD, Ill. (WICS) — They've been helping families for over 27 years and now Habitat for Humanity is building their 106th home.
Sunday, Habitat celebrated the kick off to Kyla Overby and Tim Anders.
The pair will have a home like no other.
Kyla is handicap so many new accommodations will be built to make her feel comfortable in her new home, like a wider driveway, wider doorways and even changes to their windows.
Organizers say building personalized homes really makes the new owners feel at home.
"It's pretty exciting to work with a family and realize this is going to be a home Kyla can live the rest of her life in," said Executive director Colleen Stone.
Habitat for Humanity is currently recruiting volunteers for this and future habitat projects in Sangamon County.
