Getting children outdoor gear when they need it the most
The COVID-19 Pandemic has more and more children finding new ways to still get outside, and enjoy the outdoors.
The not-for-profit organization, Gear Forward saw this need and started collecting donations of outdoor gear and equipment for kids who like to be outside, but can't afford the gear it comes with.
Gear Forward founder, Scott Gauvin wanted to ensure every kid has fun while being outside.
“There’s going to be a need for more gear. A lot of kids are getting outside with their families, right now, and trying to turn to outdoor organizations. So we’re getting ready. This money is going to go towards shipping the gear donated out throughout the U.S” said Founder of Gear Forward, Scott Gauvin.
Through their website Gear Forward matches camping gear to children’s needs and then uses donation money to ship the gear out to youth campings groups.
In Springfield Gauvin said Gear Forward has worked with organizations like Compass for Kids, Camp Care-A-Lot, and Boys and Girl Scout troops in the area.
