Former UIS employee sentenced for raping student
A former UIS employee has been sentenced to 6 and a half years behind bars for raping a 17-year-old Chinese student last year.
According to the State's Attorney, 54-year-old Xuesong Yang was helping the student move to Springfield to take classes at UIS.
Yang was accused of forcing the girl to drink alcohol at his office before assaulting her after she passed out. He's accused of then threatened to send victim back to china if she reported the assault.
The victim is now back in China.
