First School Resource Officer to start in Rochester
When students in Rochester go back to school, there will be a new face there as the school district's first ever School Resource Officer will be starting.
His name is John Schwartz and he is a local resident of Rochester as well as a formal member of the Rochester police force. He had recently retired before agreeing to become the school district's first SRO and the Rochester Police Chief said this is something they are all excited about.
“It had to be the right person for the job that the students would feel comfortable with, the staff, the faculty, administration and I think we really done a great job," Rochester Police Chief Kent Bragg said.
Schwartz's office will be run through the high school and junior high building but he will also be at the intermediate and elementary schools as well.
