Father in critical condition after trying to save son from house fire

A father who tried to save his 3-year-old son from a house fire in Riverton is still in critical condition.

The family tells us the father is in the ICU dealing with severe burns.

The father tried to save 3-year-old Johnathan McDonough who was trapped inside a home in the 1400 block of North 3rd Street Wednesday morning.

Johnathan's body was later found inside the home.

Investigators say they're still trying to find the cause of the fire because of the extensive damage to the home.

The McDonough family is now collecting money for their GoFundMe page to help the with funeral costs.

The family does not have life, health, or property insurance, according to the page.

According to a GoFundMe page, Johnathan had a passion for the outdoors and liked making mud pies, catching bugs, and riding his tricycle.
