SPRINGFIELD, Ill. (WICS/WRSP) — Wednesday night around 135 soldiers returned home from deployment in the Middle East.
The Illinois Army National Guard’s 3637th Maintenance Company flew into the Abraham Lincoln Capital Airport around 8 p.m. on Wednesday.
The unit was responsible for maintenance, including support to nearly 90 units deployed to the region. The members were located in six locations in Jordan, Syria, and Egypt plus multiple locations in and Kuwait.
This was the largest single unit deployment of Illinois Army National Guard Soldiers since 2014. The unit was mobilized in September 2017.
