Dozens compete in Capital City Cornhole tournament

Capital City Cornhole in Springfield held its regional tournament on Sunday.

Registered members of the American Cornhole League competed in singles and doubles tournaments.

Roughly 45 people competed and cash prizes were given to top winners.

"We started three years ago and we just couldn’t find places to play,” said CEO of Capital City Cornhold, Matt Millner. “We and four other guys decided that we wanted to run tournaments so that we could have a place to play if anything. Turns out it was a really popular decision because we had upwards of 200 people since September here."

The league will host a charity event on January 12 at the Taylorville Moose Lodge to benefit the victims of the Taylorville tornado.

Fifty percent of the earnings from the tournament will go directly to the American Red Cross.
