Illinois motorcycle rider Jeffrey Carver Jr. took first place in the Harley-Davidson Springfield Mile Monday.

The race was postponed from Sunday to Monday due to brief rain storms.

The Annual Harley Davidson Springfield Mile is back at the Illinois State Fairgrounds.

Racers from across the country hit the tracks with some tough competition, all trying to make the top 25 spots for the main event.

There's multiple different qualifying races happening throughout the day.

Events like this are exciting entertainment for the whole family.

“It's a good family sport,” Alton Resident Jeffery Carver said. “It's the backbone of America really. It's that sport that kids around my age or younger had no idea it even happened. You know they grew up watching motocross; I grew up motor crossing."

Unfortunately, due to the brief rain storms on Sunday, the rest of the races are postponed.

The event will continue Monday at noon.
