Downhome Music Festival Kicks Off
The Downhome Music Festival kicks off Friday, July 29 with food, cold beverages and live music. The festival consists of local bands, local vendors and local beer.
25 bands are set to take the stage this coming weekend with music ranging from punk rock to rock and roll, and much more. Vendors include those selling jewelry, local food trucks, and more than 100 craft beers will be available. Organizers say turnout has increased over the years. Just last year, more than 12,000 supporters came out to the festival.
"The local first aspect of it really keeps people intrigued. It allows them to support their favorite bands; just to get out in the streets and have a good time. We've got to give these bands these opportunities," said Joshua Catalano, organizer, Downhome Music Festival.
The festival is set to take place on 7th and Washington Streets in downtown Springfield. It runs both Friday and Saturday, and will cost $5 at the gate to get in.
