Danville special education teacher arrested for sexual assault
District 118 Superintendent Dr. Alicia Geddis confirms a teacher at one of their schools was arrested for sexual assault.
We're told allegations were brought to the district last Friday and they took them very, very seriously. The school contacted police right away and began the investigation.
The teacher has been suspended without pay, and further action will be decided by the school board.
The case is currently an ongoing investigation by Danville Police Department & DCFS.
Danville Police Department released the following details:
On 08/17/18 around 11:46 am Danville Police Detectives arrested 28 year old Chelsea L. Robinson of Danville on preliminary charges of criminal sexual assault. According to Larry Thomason Director of Public Safety, Robinson is accused of having a sexual relationship with a 17 year old male student while Robinson was employed as a special education teacher at Danville High School. The Danville Police department was notified of the relationship on 08/10/18 and an investigation was initiated at that time. During follow-up investigation Danville Police were able to gather evidence that the relationship had occurred during the month of June 2018. Robinson was arraigned in Vermilion County Court and bond was set at $100,000 10%.
