Dangerously cold to start 2018

WIND CHILL WARNING begins 9pm Sunday and lasts until 12pm Monday for the following counties: Ford, Greene, Iroquois, Macoupin, and Montgomery counties; and lasts until 12pm Tuesday for the following counties: Cass, Champaign, Christian, Coles, De Witt, Douglas, Edgar, Logan, Macon, Mason, Menard, Morgan, Moultrie, Piatt, Sangamon, Scott, Shelby, and Vermilion. Both New Year's Eve night, and Monday night temperatures will be around -10° with wind chills as low as -30°.

WIND CHILL ADVISORY is in effect for all of central Illinois until 12pm Tuesday.

Dangerously cold air forecasted for New Year's Eve. At midnight tonight, Wind chills will be around -20° with low temperatures will be around -10° with wind chills as cold as -30° early Monday morning. These extremely conditions can produce frostbite on exposed skin in as little as 15 to 30 minutes. Take precautions to protect yourself from the cold by wearing multiple layers of clothing and covering up all extremities. Also don't forgot about pets. If at any time you, or someone you know begins to feel dizzy, numb, confused, or have impaired vision, that may be the symptoms of hypothermia and you should call 9-1-1 immediately as hypothermia is life-threatening.

Those celebrating the New Year should take extra precautions should you be outside at any point Sunday night.

Monday night - Low: -8°, Wind Chill down to -20°
Tuesday night - Low: 7°, Wind Chill down to -10°
