City of Chicago sued in wrongful conviction case
Two wrongfully convicted men are now suing the city of Chicago.
Robert Almodovar, Jr. and Jose Maysonet say they were framed for the murder and sent to prison by disgraced Chicago detective Reynaldo Guevara and 5 other detectives.
The say Guevara used physical and psychological coercion, manipulated witnesses and threatened to take people's kids away in order to frame them.
Together the two spent a total of 50 years in prison. Both were released in 2017.
So far nine civil lawsuits have been filed against the city of Chicago and there will likely be many more.
The city of Chicago says it has not received the suit, and therefore cannot comment at this time.
