Taylorville Police Chief Brian Hile tells Newschannel 20 74-year-old Giles Henderson of Charleston was killed in a skydiving accident at Taylorville Municipal Airport on Saturday.

Henderson and another woman were skydiving around 2:45 p.m. Saturday. Henderson tried to open his parachute when it became entangled with the other skydiver. They eventually became untangled but Henderson was unable to recover and hit the ground. The woman was able to land and was taken to a local hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

Hile says Henderson was an experienced skydiver.

The Taylorville Police Department, Taylorville Fire Department, and the FAA are investigating the accident.
