SPRINGFIELD, Ill. (WICS) -- The incoming winter storm is leaving stores across central Illinois swamped as people get ready for the major snowfall.
There were hundreds of customers packing their carts with last minute groceries.
The top purchases were water, bread and milk.
Store managers said weather events always bring a major rush, but this is the biggest in years.
“It’s a mess, everybody's trying to stock up today because the snow's coming,” said Jewel Scales, a Springfield resident.
County Market said they prepare for events like this, making sure to have extra supplies in stock.
