Body found in Campustown, police investigating
According to the Champaign County Coroner, the death of Robert Chambers was most likely caused by "pre-existing natural causes".
Champaign Police are investigating after the body of a man was found in Campustown around 12:35 a.m. in the 500 block of East Green Street in Champaign.
The Champaign County Coroner identified the man as 28-year-old Robert W. Chambers, of Champaign.
According to police, the individual had received a serious cut wound to his leg from what they believe to be a broken bottle. Pieces of the broken bottle were found in his pocket.
Although there have been reports of this being a possible stabbing, police say it's too premature to determine whether this was accidental or intentional.
Police will have more information after the autopsy report is released on Friday.
