April Pay It Forward Recipient: Jerry Johnson
Plows and tractors are out in full swing in central Illinois as farmers gear up for planting season, but one local man is cultivating the land so everyone can enjoy it.
"We strip, spray, and management work to keep it a nice viable prairie," said Jerry Johnson, our April Pay It Forward recipient.
Jerry Johnson is part of the non-profit group Quail and Upland Game Alliance that helps promote land restoration.
"Most of the work we do for habitat is done through government programs on farmland,” Johnson said.
Working with other farmers and land owners around Logan County he's made a great impact in boosting populations of all native grasslands.
Johnson said, "Just this year our club is planting about 1800 acres of prairie grass."
To help carry on his generosity, he inspires younger farmers to follow suit and makes a difference.
That's why Hy-Vee and Newschannel 20 have selected Jerry to be our April Pay It Forward recipient.
